The Cycling Thread is inspired by a text thread between five old, American college buddies who – in the long summer days of 2020, as the Covid 19 pandemic emerged – found themselves charmed and engrossed by a sport of which they had only been casual fans in years past: pro cycling.
A tradition grew; a passion ensues.
Our days on The Thread, during the cycling season, are now enjoyed at sunrise with good coffee, sophomoric cycling banter, and gripping road races that stretch across the European Continent.
It’s a beautiful sport. It’s a dangerous sport. It’s a sport that remains a niche in North American culture. We aim to be a bridge that spans between the US fanbase and the international pro cycling scene at large. We intend to share our brand of cycling news and commentary in the only way we know: From our couches, full of coffee, and with a fun, feverish intensity that highlights the many nuances of the wonderful sport of cycling.
Let’s ride.
